Considered the heart and soul of the Big Sky community, Meadow Village and Town Center are a rich mixture of shopping, dining, recreational activities like ice skating and climbing walls, community events, and a great trail system. It’s a natural gathering place where residents and visitors enjoy close-knit events under expansive Montana skies.

Hill Park, host to the summer Farmers’ Markets, and Music in the Mountains, a free concert series, is located here, as well as BASE, Big Sky’s Community Center with a climbing wall, a full-size gymnasium, and a fitness center.

It’s where you’ll find grocery stores, hardware stores, and Big Sky Medical Center. It’s also where the thrill of PBR comes each summer and skijoring in the winter. It’s home to live concerts, a Halloween Festival, and the annual Christmas Stroll.

Meadow Village

Tucked up against the Arnold Palmer-designed, 18-hole, par-72 public golf course, Meadow Village is a mixture of retail, dining, and services. In addition, it’s an excellent area for private home and condominium rentals and real estate. It’s also close to the historic Crail Ranch Homestead Museum, a local treasure consisting of a homestead museum, gardens, and a park, all connecting to the Big Sky Trail System through the Crail Ranch Trail.

Big Sky Town Center

Big Sky Town Center is a 165-acre walking village down from the Meadow with boutique shops, artisan foods, local art, and handcrafted cocktails. Home goods, property managers, real estate, and sports equipment are all tucked into this quaint area of town. It’s a mixture of retail and professional and a lot of fun.

The Wilson Hotel in Big Sky is the only hotel in this area, but it is well worth it. Sophisticated mountain living is made easy with full kitchens in the rooms, an outdoor pool, and a popular on-site restaurant, Block 3 Kitchen & Bar

However, several property management companies can help you find a private home or condominium in many styles. Lone Mountain Ranch is close to this area of town, with cozy wood cabins, miles of pristinely groomed Nordic ski trails, the Horn and Cantle Restaurant, and horse-drawn wagon rides to an intimate winter dinner.

Great Restaurants You Won’t Want to Miss

Most restaurants in Big Sky are located in Town Center, but there are too many to list and they all serve great food!

ByWOM (By Word of Mouth) Bistro draws people from around the region as one of the first farm-to-table restaurants in Montana. The Waypoint restaurant and bar offers a unique upscale dining experience, as you can take your craft cocktails and bistro-inspired cuisine to their lounge or in-house cinema! For a more casual fare, try Blue Buddha Sushi Lounge and Blue Moon Bakery (which also serves terrific pizza and lunches). If you’re looking for picnic supplies, Hungry Moose Market and Deli is packed with delicious edibles and has a great deli if you prefer to grab-and-go.

You can find a complete list of restaurants, along with their hours, listed here.

Recreation Around Big Sky’s Meadow Village and Town Center

Tucked between the Madison and Spanish Peak Mountain ranges, with Lone Mountain towering in the background, recreation is abundant. Big Sky Community Organization manages 23.5 miles of multi-use, multi-directional trails for bikers, hikers, walkers, skiers, and four-legged companions of all ages. The ice rink at BASE offers ice skating, hockey, and curling. Or, if you prefer longer hikes and stunning views, USFS land is easily accessible. Fishing, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding are all minutes from here.
