Benefits of Having a Garage

Whether you are building or buying, a garage is not only a solid return on investment but might also become one of your favorite spaces. In Montana, not having to clear ice and snow off your car is hands down the best reason for a garage, but there are many other options to consider.

Making a Garage Into a Workshop

If you have extra room, the garage is a great workspace. It’s often quiet, easy to clean, and easy to move tools and things in and out of. A spare corner could make a great sewing or crafting area.

Setting Up Extra Storage

Large shelves make for excellent storage space in garages. Pack bins with things you rarely use on the top shelves and more frequently used items on the lower shelves. Store bikes on ceiling racks to save space. This is also a good spot for an extra refrigerator or freezer.

He/She-Cave

Everyone can enjoy a little place of respite occasionally. Consider setting up a he-or-she-cave with comfortable seating, music, good books, games, or TV. Whatever you fancy, the garage can be spruced up as a nice place to spend time. It can also be used as a spare guest room.

At-Home Fitness Center

The garage is a terrific space for large fitness equipment such as treadmills or weight machines. It can also be converted into a yoga, Pilates, or meditation area.

Garages Add Value

Garages improve the resell value of a home, especially in areas with limited parking. Also, a well-maintained garage can increase the curb appeal, and if you do convert part of it, you’re also increasing your livable space.

Protection

Not only does a garage offer protection from the elements, but it’s also a great way to protect your car from theft. And in Montana, it keeps you from getting plowed in!
